A renowned cyclist who usually relies on two feet and a pair of pedals, Danny McAskill is now the serving as the unlikely flash point in a decades long debate concerning motorized vehicles in sensitive wilderness areas.

The trials urban rider with a penchant for mountain biking recently took his motorbike to the top of a well-known mountain in the Scottish Highlands with his cousin, Donnie. The video of the ride has since sparked controversy amongst conservationists and the hikers alike who say using motorized vehicles in areas like Beinn na Caillich jeopardizes the environmental integrity of all wilderness areas.

Mountaineering Scotland CEO, David Gibson questioned Danny on the move telling The Scotsman, “It’s irresponsible, it’s against the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and it results in erosion and degradation of the mountain environment.”
