After a 40-year hiatus, the FIS have decided to bring world cup ski racing back to Squaw Valley in 2017 reports the San Fransisco Chronicle.

Womens’ Slalom and Giant Slalom events will take place between March 10-11. The revived venue will serve as center stage on the circuit for American stars Mikaela Schiffrin, Julia Mancuso, and Lindsey Vonn as long as they keep injuries at bay.

In an interview with the SF Chronicle, Squaw Valley CEO, Andy Wirth told one reporter, “Our efforts over the past five years focused on taking Squaw Valley back to where it was back in the day. We intend to bring that luster back. It will be going back to where we’ve been.”
