It’s been an eventful summer for Arizona Snowbowl after deciding to partner with ski area manager extraordinaire James Coleman. Instead of be acquired by the operator of Purgatory, Pajarito, and Sipapu Ski Resorts, Arizona Snowbowl is now looking to the future.

Call it a sign of the times

By constructing the first new lift in 30 years, the ski area that lies just north of Flagstaff, AZ is hoping to make a jump in the resort ranks of the southwest. The brand new lift, named the Humphreys Peak Lift after the tallest mountain in the San Fransisco Range, will be the first quad chairlift at the resort.

“Arizona Snowbowl will add its first lift in 30 years by Christmas 2015. Plus the Ridgeside snowmaking infrastructure and trail glading and widening completed by winter 2015. These projects are part of a $10 million capital campaign within the largest family of ski resorts in the Southwest, now including Arizona Snowbowl, Purgatory, Pajarito and Sipapu.”Arizona Snowbowl Facebook Page

Among the various improvements planned alongside the Humphreys Peak Lift is an upgraded base lodge, more chairlifts, and improved snowmaking systems. Although no final completion date is on the books for these projects, the developments will most likely take place over the next 5 years with many being finalized by this winter.
