Light snow will be falling in the Cascades early this weekend as well as inland through Montana and Wyoming. Amounts will be light early this weekend with the exception of Montana where 5-9 inches is likely over a good portion of the mountain ranges (Bridger, Big Sky, and areas north). Saturday may stand a good chance of a powder day. That snow moves through Wyoming Saturday (2-4) and through Colorado Saturday night. (2-5 Front Range) Most moisture stays East of the Divide so look for upslope conditions in Colorado as well as Wyoming (2-4 inches in the mountains). Tease before the storm!
Heavy snow will be falling Sunday night into Monday along the Canadian border into BC. That snow will impact the ski resorts near Spokane with a solid 10-15 inches by late Monday. Temperatures will be warming Monday with a mixed bag possible late AM or Monday evening. Snow densities will start out great Sunday but continue to rise into Monday. BC will stay in the cold air with a nice shot of snowfall into Red, Fernie, and Revelstoke. Chase locations in the NW would include resorts with higher elevations near Spokane. Monday morning might be best since warming will be occurring during the day. The Western Cascades will see snow changing to rain at all bases on Sunday night however upper elevation snow is likely through Monday (Additional warming). Eastern Cascades fare better!
Wyoming and Montana will benefit with higher elevations and decent powder on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. Light snow Sunday turns heavy over the Tetons including southern Montana on Sunday PM and Monday. Expect 2-4 Saturday, 2-4 Sunday and perhaps 5-10 Sunday night/Monday. I would chase both southern Montana and the Tetons for Monday/Tuesday. Light snow will continue into Wednesday. Heaviest amounts will fall from Sunday PM through midnight on Monday. Snow densities will be getting higher through the period with a rain/mix in the Jackson Valley by late Monday. Also, heaviest snow sets up over areas from the Tetons and north. Yellowstone might be a winner! 3-4 day totals from Sunday-Wednesday should be in the 1-2 feet range. Remember densities will be increasing.
