South Island Balloon-Skiing, located in New Zealand, is a new company that will be offering the world’s first hot air balloon accessed ski trips. The company plans on rolling out the new adventures this winter.

“We at South Island Balloon-Skiing believe that by mixing the beauty of hot air ballooning with the thrill of big mountain skiing we can form truly memorable experiences that will last a lifetime,” said CEO Roger Edwards.

According to the official press release, each balloon can carry up to 4 skiers plus one guide. The press release goes on to say, “Our majestic balloon’s will whisk you up to peaks of some of the most sunning mountains in the Southern Alps.”

This might sound expensive but SIBS claims that a day of balloon skiing will cost far cheaper than heli-skiing because they “only charge you for the hot air”.
