POWDER ALERTS HOISTED FOR THE CASCADES, INTERIOR BC, ROCKIES, NEW ENGLAND!

Very active night in the Powder Center as several storms are going to impact the West and East Coasts over the next several days. EPIC ALERTS were in effect today over Colorado where up to 18 inches has fallen (Unofficial per my observations on Telemetry) at Breckenridge, 9-14 at Vail, and pictured on this post at press time a shot I just took at Copper Mountain (Looks like 20 inches). Snow is tapering off so don’t expect more than a few additional inches tonight favoring the high mountain passes. Powderchaser Blake reported great terrain and powder fromBridger Bowl Ski area today where several inches of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours.

CASCADES POWDER ALERT:

High snow levels will bring low elevation rain and mid mountain snowfall to the North Cascades early Thursday reaching the south by early afternoon. Rain will change to heavy snow late Thursday evening with the North favored for 9-12 inches by Friday morning (Mount Baker). Stevens could see some convergence set up on Friday (5-10), and Crystal will do best late Thursday and Friday with amounts in the 6-10 inch range. Expect “wet mank” beneath new snow for Friday which would be my pick for high elevation powder (Light density on top of high density). Interior BC will see colder air and less rainfall especially in the north near Revelstoke (9-14)

ROCKIES POWDER ALERT- HEAVY SNOW FOR THE WEEKEND!

Cold front reaches into northern Idaho Friday morning (5-10 ), central Idaho by Friday Afternoon (Storm ski late) and the Tetons and southern Montana by Friday evening. Colorado sees snowfall begin Saturday morning with the heaviest possible in the PM extending into Sunday. The favored locations will be from Aspen north along I-70, Vail, Summit County, Steamboat, Copper, extending into the Front Range Foothills Saturday night and Sunday to the south (Monarch). You might consider a chase from Idaho Friday, to the Tetons on Saturday and Colorado for Sunday (3 State Powder Trifecta same storm).

NEW ENGLAND EPIC ALERT:

Heavy dry powder is likely with the coldest temperatures of the season from central New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine Thursday to Friday. Ocean effect snowfall (Cold air moving off the warm water) is likely in many areas of coastal New England with 9-15 inches likely in many areas. My picks for deep snow will include anything from Rutland Vermont south, extending through most of New Hampshire and central or coastal Maine. (Friday POW day- 11-14 or more). Deep picks will be Thursday PM (Storm ski) through Friday afternoon in most of New England.
