There have been over 20 attempts to summit Meru Central via Shark’s Fin, but until October 2nd, none had succeeded. Along with Jimmy Chin were Conrad Anker and Renan Ozturk. This team of Americans returned this September for their second time. The first attempt in 2008 they had to turn around 150m from the summit after a snow storm had interfered with their accent.
This time the weather cooperated and the team was able to summit in 12 days. It is quite amazing what these guys go through to accomplish such a feat. Check out the footage from their first attempt in 2008.
