Burton Grail Boot

This past week I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a pair of Burton Grail’s, and I must say, it’s a super good boot.  Very responsive and light weight.  I’ve been riding some softer boots that haven’t been giving me the support I need.  The Burton Grail is rated a 6 out of 10 in the “support” category.  It’s a great mid-flexing boot that gives you enough support but still allows you to reap the benefits of a mid-flex boot, such as tweaking grabs.  It is a normal lace-up boot and doesn’t have Burton’s Speed Lace system (maybe next year?).  It’s nice to have laces in case one blows out, but the ease, speed and quick adjustability of the Speed Lace is hard to beat.  The Grail has got Burton’s Imprint™ 4 Liner.  This liner is heat-moldable and will take a great imprint of your foot right out of the box.  This allows for a nice, custom fit and really helps break in your new boots  One really big feature of the Grail is the Shrinkage™ Footprint Reduction Technology.  What this does is actually reduces the footprint of the boot, meaning if you wear a size 10 boot, the “footprint” is only a size 9.  This is a great feature for anyone in the mid wide 10.5 to 11.5 size, allowing bigger feet on narrower boards.  You no longer need to get a wide or mid-wide board!  Another great feature of the Grail is the Aegis™ Antimicrobial Coating which helps eliminate your boot stink.  After a season of riding, you and more importantly your friends, will love this feature.  I’ve been very pleased with the Grail.  It rides really well in all conditions and terrain and is a great boot for what we see at Stowe.
