Mt Baker Ski Area has already seen the most snowfall in the USA thus far this season and it’s only going to get deeper say NOAA forecast models.

The snow is already falling at Heather Meadows and the storm is due to pick up later tonight with up to 24″ forecasted by Saturday morning. Wind will also be a large factor with the possibility of ridge top gusts reaching up to 70mph.

Snow showers should persist through Saturday with another 3-7″ of slightly cold snow. For that reason, Saturday morning should serve up the best conditions of the weekend.

Please be advised that the current forecast near the ski area is calling for wind and there is a possibility of a chair lift wind holds or closures while this front rolls through. The freezing levels are showing a drop to 3000 feet with continued snowfall for Saturday morning.
