Colorado Ski Resorts Cashing In On Solar Eclipse Tourism

Beaver Creek and Vail are just a few of the Colorado resorts hoping to cash in on the eclipse frenzy by offering special package deals to draw the eclipse crowds to the High Country on Monday August 21st.

Here’s how Vail and Beaver Creek are pitching their eclipse related activities:

Vail and Beaver Creek, Colo., August 7, 2017 — For the first time in 26 years, a solar eclipse will pass over Vail and Beaver Creek on August 21, 2017. According to Eclipse2017.org, Vail will see 92% of the solar eclipse from 10:21 AM to 1:11 PM, creating a once in a lifetime adventure in the mountains. The solar eclipse is the first total eclipse visible only in the USA since 1776. 

Solar Eclipse Guided Hike & Lodging Package at Vail Mountain
Start the day with a gondola ride to Eagle’s Nest, located at over 10,000 feet. Guests will then depart for a guided hike amongst vibrant wildflowers to a prime viewing spot to witness this rare astronomical event. As the solar eclipse passes over Vail, relax and learn about one of nature’s most remarkable sights from your expert guide. For this unique event, the Lodge at Vail is offering exclusive savings on lodging with rates starting at $161 per night, with an additional charge for the solar eclipse experience. The Eclipse Package includes a guided hike, lunch at the top of the mountain, solar eclipse guide, solar eclipse viewing glasses and a gondola ride.

Solar Eclipse Expedition on Beaver Creek Mountain
At peak eclipse time, spectators will witness spectacular views of this unusual occurrence on top the mountain on one of our viewing decks at over 9,000 feet. The tour begins at 9 a.m. at the White Carpet Club in the heart of Beaver Creek Village for coffee and pastries. Depart the White Carpet Club at 9:30 a.m. via 4×4 adventure tour or guided hike. Sit back and enjoy the company of an experienced guide and beautiful scenery from Margie’s Deck on the mountain. At 11 a.m., the tour will arrive at the viewing deck to enjoy the solar eclipse and picnic lunch. 
Following the historic eclipse event, guests return to the village via 4×4 ride. Guests will receive special solar eclipse viewing glasses and a picnic blanket.
