I’ve always said that if you can’t see you can’t ski so anything that purportedly improves vision on the hill is worth a closer examination. GIRO partnered up with ZEISS Optics on these and while I can’t endorse before I try them out on the mountain, the concept is at the very least intriguing:

“VIVID is a patented lens technology—developed by Giro in partnership with ZEISS Optics—that improves the visual experience on snow by enhancing contrast and definition. VIVID reduces eyestrain, improves reaction time, boosts confidence and delivers precise vision without color over saturation.”

HOW IT WORKS:

VIVID was developed by Giro in partnership with Zeiss Optics, the global authority in quality optics. This patented lens technology is based on decades of studying the visual experience on snow.

Conventional goggles and sunglasses are designed to eliminate blue light. The long held belief was that blue light = bad light. But here’s the thing: snow isn’t white… as the most reflective surface on Earth, snow is actually blue. Our research proves that seeing this blue light is fundamental in processing terrain on snow. VIVID Lens Technology effectively manipulates blue light by letting in contrast enhancing blue light, while blocking harmful UV light. VIVID essentially filters out the haze and frees your eyes to spot your line and focus on enjoying your experience.

VIVID LENSES with Optics by ZEISS:
-ALLOW IN CONTRAST ENHANCING BLUE LIGHT
-BLOCK HARMFUL UV LIGHT
-DELIVER PRECISE VISION WITHOUT COLOR OVER SATURATION

BENEFITS OF VIVID
• ENHANCED CONTRAST AND DEFINITION
• REDUCED EYE STRAIN
• IMPROVED REACTION TIME AND BOOSTED CONFIDENCE
