Climbing ‘The Nose’ on Yosemite’s El Capitan requires endurance, mental toughness, and patience– that is unless your name is Brad Gobright or Jim Reynolds.

Gobright and Reynolds, two avid climbers who’ve been based out of the Yosemite Valley this summer, finished the route in record time this past Saturday as less than ideal conditions plagued their ascent reports SF Gate.
During the climb, the two climbed through a smoke-filled Yosemite Valley that made breathing difficult. Also an inordinate of people climbing the traditional route, made bypassing groups without losing time extremely challenging.
Nevertheless, the two decided to go for the record previously held by world-famous climber Alex Honnold and his partner Hans Florine.
The two ultimately summited a full 4 minutes faster than Honnold and Florine did back in 2012. After the climb was complete, Florine sent his congratulations to the duo via text. Since the record fell, Yosemite Climbing Association’s Ken Yager warned the public as to the dangers of speed climbing calling it, “a very dangerous pursuit.”
