Pro snowboarder and Red Bull athlete, Brock Crouch was badly injured in a avalanche that released in the Whistler backcountry on Sunday. Crouch was filming with Absinthe at the time of the slide reports Teton Gravity Research.

According to his older brother and pro golfer Mike Glennie, Crouch broke multiple vertebrae while being swept downhill. He also lost some teeth and suffered some lacerations on his face.

“I know you stared death in the face yesterday brother but you also lived to talk about it.” – Mike Glennie

As evidenced in a post by Ryan Runke, it seems as though Crouch owes his life to fellow pro snowboarder John Jackson, who was on the scene shortly after the incident. Avalanche Canada currently has the avalanche danger among the Whistler Blackcomb zone at ‘considerable.’ We will update this post as more information becomes available.

*Our best wishes are with Brock Crouch as he begins the long and arduous healing process.
