Ruby Hill Rail Yard.

North America’s first urban terrain park is looking to make a major upgrade and they need our help. Ruby Hill Rail Yard in Denver, Colorado was created in 2007 as a collaboration between DPR and Winter Park Resort. Winter Park Resort contributes its technical expertise in rail park design, while DPR manages the location and operations. Over 35 dedicated volunteers work each season to help bring this project to life. Ruby Hill Rail Yard provides vital access to outdoor recreation and winter sports for the local community and we think its amazing.

Currently Ruby Hill is a walk up hill only facility but they folks at DPR are hoping to make that change and they have launched a fundraising campaign to make it happen. Here’s the scoop: Ruby Hill wants to install a surface lift (unspecified if its a magic carpet or rope tow) and they need $950,000 to make it happen. So far they have raised $152,000 towards their goal and looking for folks to pitch in.

“Donate through the Denver Park Trust to help build a new lift at the Ruby Rail Yard! Denver Parks and Recreation seeks to install a new surface lift that will enhance the winter sport experience and foster a lifelong love of winter recreation.” -Councilman Kevin Flynn, Denver District 2

The project timeline will be dictated by when it reaches its fundraising goal. Learn more about this fundraiser and consider making a donation HERE.
