Mammoth Mountain is digging out after a powerful storm cycle dropped massive totals across the Eastern Sierra, with 63 inches reported at Main Lodge and a staggering 94 inches at the summit.
The deep snowfall is welcome news for skiers and snowboarders, but it also brought significant operational challenges. Main Lodge operations are scheduled to reopen today as crews continue extensive snow removal and avalanche mitigation work across the mountain.

Visitors should expect a gradual rollout of terrain. Lift openings and access to certain areas may be delayed as patrol teams work to ensure conditions are safe. After nearly eight feet of snow at the summit, it will take time to dig out lifts, assess terrain, and complete control work.
Light snow is forecast for Saturday and Sunday, keeping conditions fresh through the weekend. Another round of storms is expected to move into the region starting Tuesday, which could add even more snow to an already stacked base.
Travelers heading to Mammoth should monitor Caltrans closely for updated road conditions and potential chain controls. Heavy snowfall in the Sierra often leads to temporary highway closures and travel delays.
With midwinter conditions firmly locked in and more snow on the way, Mammoth Mountain is looking at an extended stretch of prime skiing and snowboarding once terrain fully reopens.
