There are few experiences quite as remarkable as skiing some proper deep powder. When done right, it really feels like flying. But what’s the powder skiing equivalent in other sports? Certainly it’s a freshly paved road for road bikers, but there’s so much it could be for mountain bikes.
Based on this GoPro video, a massive desert sand dune comes pretty darn close. Professional mountain biker Korbinian Engstler took on the picturesque dunes of Namibia’s Namib-Naukluft National Park.
Namib-Naukluft National Park lies between shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Escarpment, bordering Dorob National Park to the north. It covers 19,216 square miles, making it the largest national park in Africa and the fourth largest in the world. The Namib Desert sits at the heart of the park, displaying brilliantly colored sand dunes that are considered some of the largest in the world.
