Know simply as “The Golden Gate Bridge Line” this extremely exposed trail next to San Francisco’s most recognizable landmark is not for the faint of hear. Attempting it on foot is not doubt vertigo inducing but riding it on a mountain bike is downright terrifying, one false move and you and your bike could end up hundreds of feet below at the bottom of a cliff.
Female mountain biker Jette Jo decided “the guys canโt have ALL the fun” and found a slightly different path down the treacherous line than her male counterparts. While this was an exhilarating experience for Jette, she will understandably not be attempting it again.
“Definitely scariest line I’ve ever experienced, but after much time in Virgin, Utah, all that exposure had me pretty desensitized in the moment. Would I do this again? Definitely not, to be honest, but it was one hell of a view.” -Jette Jo
After Jette’s video went viral and made the social media round last month, she found out that this line adjacent to the Golden Gate Bridge is in a preservation area and she discourages folks from taking it. Lesson learned:
“DISCLAIMER: I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of days with this video blowing up. Knowing what I do now, I would have not ridden in this sensitive area. I did this video back in February right after the other guy did the upper section and did not know it was prohibited โ I was completely unaware. I do not encourage riding here not only because it is dangerous but because it is a sensitive and preserved area. If I wouldโve known I wouldโve chosen a different area. In the future I plan on doing research of the areas I decide to ride at to make sure it is allowed; there are plenty of other areas that are just as beautiful and legal to ride.”
Just as a reminder to all you urbanite mountain bikers, you don’t always need rocks and dirt to test your downhill skills. Case in point, check out Jette ripping this monster stair set in the heart of SF:
No word if Jette will be attending Red Bull Rampage this weekend but looks like she had a blast at the 2024 event in Virgin, Utah.
