In a move that would certainly make the legendary Shane McConkey proud, this madman snuck onto the slopes of Sugarbush Resort in nothing but his ski boots. Fortunately the Heaven’s Gate webcam managed to capture the late season turns on camera, allowing all of us to enjoy the move after the fact.
The question is, did he know the camera was there? Or did he just happen to pick the perfect trail for such an act? While Sugarbush didn’t necessarily approve of the behavior, they did share it to their social media, implying that there’s at least some amount of respect towards the man and his actions.
According to FindLaw, the State of Vermont doesn’t actually have a law against public nudity, but there are local ordinances that ban indecent exposure and state laws that make it illegal to engage in lewd and lascivious conduct while in a public place. So while it’s technically legal to be nude in public, there’s still plenty of ways it could wind up with you in legal trouble and is definitely not recommended.
Sugarbush Resort is still open for spring skiing, with more snow possibly on the way this week. Closing day is scheduled for Sunday, May 4, with a “Las Weekend Luau” set to celebrate the end of the 2024/25 season. Today, 26 of 111 trails remain open with 18 groomed.
