The best spring skiing tradition of all has to be the pond skim. Ski resorts either build a temporary pond or allow a natural pond to form and skiers and snowboarders hurl themselves across hoping to stay out of the frigid waters below.
The proper pond skim is more for the crowd than it is for the competitors, with participants wearing goofy outfits and trying to outdo everyone else with style and creativity. Sometimes the best runs are the epic successes, sometimes they’re the major fails.
This pair of skiers managed to steal the show at Hoodoo Ski Resort’s pond skim, sharing a pair of skis while facing each other.
Technically the got stuck at the end of the pond rather than actually being able to ski all the way out, but it still seems like a success to us.
