Bizarre animal crawls out of gondola tower.

These gondola mechanics discovered quite the surprise hiding out in a lift tower. After discovering some sort of animal living in the tower, they banged on the metal to successfully scare it out. I assure you whatever you think is in there is not what comes out.

It appears to be a red and white giant flying squirrel, found throughout China, Taiwan, and potentially other parts of South and Southeast Asia. They’ve been reported to weigh up to and above 9 pounds, making them among the largest flying squirrels in the world.

Red and white giant flying squirrels are one of 44 species of flying squirrel found worldwide. They use a parachute-like membrane called a patagium to glide, using cartilaginous spurs on their wrists and ankles to turn and control speed. Their tails can also assist in steering while in the air.
