If you’re a Colorado skier, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the Berthoud Pass Ski Area. You might know someone who grew up skiing there. Or maybe you skied there yourself back in the day.
If you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, let me introduce you to the Berthoud Pass ski area, an area that closed down in 2001. Today, you can still see some remnants of the area as you drive over the pass (if you’re heading to Winter Park from I-70, for example). Skier72, with the help of SRG Skiing, took a look at this since lost ski resort.
“Berthoud Pass Ski Resort needs no introduction. Sitting at over 11,000 feet, this legendary mountain has an iconic history spanning almost a century. From its glory days in the 1940s and 50s to multiple ownerships and bankrupcies in its later years, the history of Berthoud Pass runs deep. So join us as we break down the complete history of this iconic lost mountain in Colorado.“
