Some families top their Christmas trees with stars while some families choose angels. This family, though it wasn’t exactly by choice, topped their Christmas tree with a live barred owl.
The Animal Welfare League of Arlington in Virginia shared this video and these pictures of a bard owl that managed to enter a home through the chimney, flying around and eventually making itself a perch at the top of the tree. The bird even pushed away the existing star to make space for itself. Quite the sassy Christmas move if you ask me.
Sgt. Murray of Arlington responded to the call, capturing the owl and releasing it back into the wild. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington wishes to remind the public to keep their chimneys capped to prevent wildlife from breaking in like Santa Claus.
