Ghost riding snowmobiles.
Ghost riding snowmobiles.

If you’re looking to score quick laps in the backcountry and you don’t have an extra person to ferry you up on the back of a snowmobile, there is an option that has been utilized for decades but doesn’t come without its risks.

Its called “Ghost Riding” and it involves sending a riderless snowmobile downhill where the rider meets it at the bottom. Not manufacturer recommended but if the runout is clean and your comfortable with seeing your machine do its thing on its own, it is an ultra effective way to session the backcountry with a minimal crew.

This crew decided to get super sporty and play chicken by riding ahead of the driverless snowmobiles. While they did so successfully, it would be an embarrassing way to injure yourself and damage your sled if a collision were to occur. Be careful out there folks.
