MOUNT WASHINGTON, New Hampshire – Mount Washington is known for many things. As the tallest mountain in the North East, it’s a hot spot for hikers. With its road to the summit, it’s a highlight for lovers of scenic drives. And as a historic backcountry skiing spot (Tuckerman Ravine, specifically), it’s a must-do pilgrimage for east coast skiers. It’s not known, historically, for road gaps. But now that Hunter Henderson accomplished a rowdy jump late this past ski season, maybe it will start to head that way.
“Hunter Henderson just turned a dream into a reality. With a small team, the right weather conditions and snow conditions, some elbow grease and some shaken off nerves, Hunter became the first known skier to attempt and land the Mount Washington Auto Road Gap.“
Hopefully it doesn’t have to be stated, but don’t try this yourself. Hunter had a team and the right weather. There’s a very good chance you’ll have neither of those things if you attempt it. Let the pros stick to this stuff, instead.
