Michigan — One of Michigan’s most famous ski resorts hasn’t operated in over two decades.
Opened back in 1947, Sugar Loaf was known as one of Michigan’s best ski resorts. Its varied terrain network, stunning views of Lake Michigan, amenities, and lodging options made it one of the most popular ski resorts in the Midwest. However, various factors, including aging infrastructure and bad management, led to its closure in 2002. While many hoped that the Loaf would be revived, the buildings at the base area were demolished in 2021 and 2022.
