An RV left precariously hanging off the side of the road on Donner Pass in Lake Tahoe was used by the California Highway Patrol in a social post to remind motorists to always be mindful when backing up.

Judging from the photos, the vintage Coachman RV rolled off highway between the guardrails just east of the Donner Summit Bridge (known as Rainbow Bridge) on old Highway 40. Thankfully the RV became lodged on its undercarriage and did not continue down the steep embankment. Driving this section of Highway 40 can be quite stressful and going off the road is a the worst case scenario.

“I mean, at least they have a beautiful view. Could have been a lot worse! Pay attention to the roadway, especially when backing up!” -California Highway Patrol
