GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, Wyoming – I’ll never quite comprehend the desire to let dogs off leash everywhere, but maybe that comes with actually owning a dog. The owners of this husky thought it would be a good idea to let their dog off leash near a bison herd in Grand Teton. It was not a good idea.
Pets, including dogs, are allowed in Grand Teton National Park, but they must be leashed and restrained AT ALL TIMES. And those leashes cannot be longer than six feet. They are also not allowed on trails, in visitor centers, on beaches, or in the backcountry. Essentially dogs can go anywhere cars can go, and that’s it.
Obviously the dog is just being a dog and the bison is just being a bison. The only thing acting poorly in this situation is the owners. Don’t be like them.
