I don’t know about you, but I am not up for kayaking through alligator infested water. Boating through alligator infested water, sure. But being on a small, easily tipable kayak knowing that the closest living relative of dinosaurs is sneaking about, no thank you.

This guy was kayaking in the upper portion of the Waccamaw river in North Carolina when an alligator charged and capsized his boat, leaving him struggling to get upright while submerged in the alligator’s water. That’s absolutely terrifying, and I’m glad he was able to get upright without too much trouble.

If you didn’t realize there are alligators in North Carolina, you are not alone! But there are, mostly sticking to the Southeastern/Eastern portion of the state. North Carolina Wildlife states that there actually quite common in the region, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a vacation in the North Carolina swamps anytime soon.
