KING COUNTY, Washington – Did you know that old lift towers are cut down like trees when being removed? It makes sense, right? If a tower is too old to be used elsewhere and it needs to go, it’s a lot easier to just cut it down and remove just the base from the ground. I guess that’s just something we’ve never really thought about.
This is the Wildside Lift at Summit at Snoqualmie. The triple lift is being replaced with a fix-gripped quad because of how difficult it is to access. The new lift is set to run 2035 feet with a vertical rise of 660 feet. It’s one of two new lifts coming to Summit at Snoqualmie. The second is the International Chair, which will provide much easier access to previously difficult-to-access terrain.
