Who are you supposed to call when the fire truck gets into an accident?
Residents of the St. Louis area woke up to lots and lots of ice on Monday, leading to many accidents before things warmed up later in the day. One such accident has taken the internet by storm, with videos showing a firetruck spinning, out of control, down an ice-covered hill.
“I was trying to take a photo of an accident in my neighborhood when the fire truck came flying down the street. Thankfully everyone is okay. Stay safe out there!!” – Joe Lawson
Another angle was captured and posted to Facebook by Katelynn Voisey, whose car was initially hit prior to the firetruck’s response, leading to the first 911 call. She told Fox 2 News that they were awoken by the initial accident. The firetruck reportedly responded within fifteen minutes because of the initial car’s resting location on top of a fire hydrant.
“Car hit my car and then landed on a fire hydrant. Then the pick up hit the car and then the fire truck slammed the blue car past my car and used it as a buffer to not hit that guys house. Very scary moment today!” – Katelynn Voisey
“The truck that was responding, due to the inclement weather, lost traction as they crested a hill. When they lost control, the driver quickly reacted and tried through his capabilities to alleviate as much of the situation as he could. And with his quick reaction, he was able to get the front end of the truck off of the roadway, which unfortunately caused a spin but ultimately prevented any substantial injuries to firefighters and residents.” – Rock Community Fire Chief Kevin Wingbermuehle via Fox 2 News
We’re just glad to hear that everyone was okay despite the multiple accidents. Stay safe out there folks.
