There are many ways to end a ski season early. Like falling twenty feet from snow to pavement, that’s a pretty good one. If you’re going to end up with a season-ending, you might as well make it one that people will remember, right?

This video likes to pop up now and again, bringing our attention back to one of the more dangerous routes in the world of skiing. Information on this video, which was most recently posted to Reddit by u/ironkidz23, is extremely limited.

The identity of the skier is unknown, the aftermath of the fall seems damn near impossible to find, and the location is not clear. The skier goes from skiing through some pretty rough looking conditions to falling on hard pavement in a split second. I will warn you, the video gets pretty tough to listen to by the end, so be aware.

While the skier in the above video is unknown, Austrian Jakob Neuhauser had a pretty similar fall in what appears to be the same location back in 2018. Jakob fractured his right thigh and pelvis and bruised his lung a bit when he took the near 20-foot fall (~6 meters) near Obertauren in Austria. While it did end his season, none of the injuries appeared to be permanent.

His fall was posted to Instagram when it originally occurred. Again, watch understanding that it gets pretty horrific at the end. You can feel the pain through his voice.

At this point I imagine something’s been done about this specific fall. If not a fence, at least a sign warning of the oncoming drop. If anyone knows exactly where this is or who fell in the original video, please let me know.
