Instagram account Makai Creative (@makaicreative) posted a sketchy video of him shimmying out onto an overlook at the summit of Yosemite National Park’s iconic Half Dome.

He was blasted for doing the reckless act in front of his kids, and has since turned off any commenting on the original post.

Check out the video for yourself below:

“No Half Dome summit is complete without dangling your feet. From this vantage point you can see the “Thank God Ledge.” Years ago I climbed the Regular route and it took 2.5 days. It would be so rad to do the route again with my kids in the future. We are hopefully headed there this fall with some smaller multi-pitch climbs to tick.”

“What if you fall off Daddy?”– yeah, good question kid.

Let’s be honest, we’ve all put ourselves in risky situations for a rush of adrenaline. It’s hard not to when you’re a teenager or young adult.

But, was it really necessary for this Dad to dangle his feet over a 3,000 ft. cliff with his kids there? No. Definitely not.
