Whitefish Mountain Resort’s new Chair 4, The Snow Ghost Express, is inching closer towards completion. On Saturday, they installed the lift towers and crossarms for the new chairlift. They are also currently working on completing the base and top terminals.

The Snow Ghost Express will carry up to 2200 people per hour up to the top of Inspiration Ridge. The chairlift will be a detachable, high-speed six-pack, and is a huge capacity upgrade for the Montana ski resort. The ride will be around seven minutes long and will cover 2200 vertical feet.

Previously, the only way to reach Whitefish’s upper mountain terrain from the Base Lodge area was to go on Chair 6, and then ski down to Chair 1 or Chair 2. This new lift will give access to the front side and the runs serviced by Chair 5. It’s one of the more significant lift additions for any North American ski resort this offseason, and it adds to the list of significant improvements that Whitefish has seen over the past couple of years.
