The Boston Globe reports that Fondation Trains De Nuit (translated to Night Trains Foundation) has been making inroads with political leaders across New England and Quebec to create a train service from Boston to Montreal, and are aiming to launch the route in 2025 or 2026. A ticket for the overnight train ride is expected to be around $150 one-way, which is usually cheaper than flying from Boston to Montreal. The potential train route is pictured below.
This sounds like a great option for both summer and winter travelers. For the summer crowd, it’s being seen as a great option to get from Montreal to Old Orchard Beach.
In terms of skiing destinations, there are many stops that make this worth riding: Bethel (home of Sunday River), Gorham (close to Wildcat and other White Mountain ski resorts), Island Pond (driving distance of Burke Mountain), Magog (which is near Mont. Orford), Bromont (close to Ski Bromont), and Montreal (in proximity to many ski areas, including a ninety-minute drive away from Mont. Tremblant). It looks like a fun way to get up to the slopes and is probably an easier experience getting through customs than driving up/down.
