Bryce Resort in Basye, Virginia is adding a second chairlift to their summit. Recently, I got to chat with Bryce Resort to learn more about the new chairlift. Lift 2 will be a fixed-grip quad chairlift that will increase its capacity during the winter, and grow Bryce’s summer mountain biking operations. This new chairlift will replace their old Lift 2, which was a double chairlift. The bottom terminal will be adjacent to the former doubles’ starting point. In contrast to the former lift though, the top terminal will be located at the summit, which is different from the old Lift 2 that ended on the top of the Bootlegger run.

The main goal of the lift will be to add more capacity to their winter operations. For summer operations, they are planning on using the new Lift 2 as their primary chairlift for mountain biking operations in order to give Lift 1 necessary maintenance breaks. A month ago, Bryce showed off this construction photo of the future top terminal. They are aiming on opening the lift for the 2022-23 season.
