Look, I’m in no way old enough to make major comments on age or what it’s like to get older. I’m still in college, I’ve got my whole life ahead of me. But that doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally regret not trying out different things as a child, and yes, I occasionally tell myself that I’m too old to try out new sports like surfing or rock climbing.

After hearing Betty Birrell’s story, I’m both mortified to know I’ve given up on trying new things, and motivated to get out there and give that stuff a shot.  Not only did Birrell begin mountain biking at 45, but now she continues to shred at 73. I just pray that, when I reach 73, I can look back at my life and know it was just as dope as this woman.

“After nearly 30 years on the harrowing and hallowed trails of British Columbia’s North Shore Mountains, Betty Birrell still thinks life is one big playground—and that you’re never too old to send.” – Patagonia on YouTube
