Located near the border of Maine and New Brunswick, Canada, the Quaggy Jo Ski Center serves as a pivotal skiing hub for those in Northeastern Maine that are far away from the big names of Maine skiing. News Center Maine reported on how a runaway bison herd shut down the ski area for the day. On early Wednesday morning, a herd of eleven buffalo escaped a farm in Fort Fairfield and then traveled around a mile over to the Quoggy Jo Ski Center to shred the gnar with their hooves. After leaving, one bison got hit by a car and had to be put down once it was captured. The rest of the herd was captured and returned to the farm.

On the bright side, Quoggy Jo Ski Center is back open, and they even received 5″ inches of fresh snow on Saturday night in a storm that gave rain to most of the Northeast. It was good karma for a ski area that literally dealt with a bison stampede a couple of days prior.
