Ascutney Outdoors revival story continues. The Valley News reports that the ski area will soon be working on two projects to enhance the experience at the reborn ski area. The first addition will be from Asctuney Lofts, who is proposing six small cabin homes that would be located “along Route 44 next to the post office.” These will be available to rent to out-of-town visitors and will feature “two bedrooms, one in a loft, a bathroom, a kitchen with stove, dishwasher and refrigerator with a total living space of 525 square feet. A 12 by 12 patio made of natural stone material will be outside each unit.”

The second addition will be for the summertime. Ascutney Outdoors has received approval to build three new flow trails along with a bike skills park. Three machine-built trails will lead bikers up to the new flow trails. With forty miles of mountain biking trails around the area, Ascutney is becoming one of the major hubs for mountain biking in Vermont. Ascutney Outdoors is hoping to begin construction on the trails this Spring.

The ski area has had its shares of ups and downs throughout its history, including multiple bankruptcies and closures. After being closed throughout most of the 2010s, the town and a local nonprofit bought the ski area and have slowly built the mountain up. The New York Times did a great piece on the revival of the hill recently, which you view here. Currently, the mountain has twelve trails and two lifts(a rope tow and a T-Bar). With more improvements on the way, it’s looking like the future is bright for Ascutney Outdoors.
