‘Broooooooooo. You gotta check out this vid of this totally massive sunfish bro. Dudes were just kicking back with a little paddleboard sesh in Laguna and ran into a real-life dinosaur/alien bro. Crazy.’

Okay, so I don’t know for sure if any of those words were uttered by any Cali bros watching the videos below, but that’s just the stereotypical voice I attribute to any surfer/paddle bros that live in California. I guess I can thank Hollywood for that…

These two paddleboarders encountered an absolutely massive sunfish (also known as mola mola) off the coast of Laguna Beach, CA a couple of weeks ago. The boarders believe that the fish was at least 9′ long!

Sunfish grow anywhere between 545-4,000+ pounds. The largest sunfish ever observed by scientists was believed to be 8′ and 11″ long. The sunfish in the videos below might just give that record a run for its money.

Sunfish are completely docile and pose no threat to humans. With that being said, I still don’t think I’d be willing to jump in the water with that beast. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve spent countless hours swimming in the Atlantic Ocean growing up, but I still get freaked out by the large beasts that inhabit it… Take that for what you will 😂
