There are only 5 days until Halloween, and I have the perfect story from 2019 that will get you in the spooky season mood.
A couple witnessed an absolutely horrifying display of nature as a huntsman spider chomped on a pigmy possum at ski lodge on the Australian island of Tasmania.
The pygmy possum is the smallest kind of possums in the world. They’re typically between 2-5″ in length, about the size of a field mouse. Can you imagine a spider living in the US that could snack on a mouse? It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.
Thankfully, the spider didn’t bite them, or else we’d probably have a real-life Spiderman/woman situation on our hands, and they were able to view the Planet Earth-like scene from a safe distance.
I’m not really afraid of spiders, but I can assure you that I would be crapping my pants if I saw one of these huntsman spiders gnawing on a small rodent in front of me. Huntsman spiders can grow up to 12″ leg spans- big enough to freak me the hell out.
