“There is no question that Beijing will be ready as all the competition venues are ready for the Games and they have already hosted test events.” -Canadian Winter Sports Specialist, Justin Downes

The BBC was on site in Beijing where the Chinese city is set to be the first to host both a summer and winter Games (Summer Olympics in 2008). Canadian winter sports specialist, Justin Downes, is confident preparations are on schedule for the Winter 2022 games as the competition venues are already complete (test events have been held), as crews work on building out  supporting infrastructure.  One aspect of the games that is still very much up in the air is the political element, with organizations worldwide calling on governments to boycott Beijing 2022 because of reported human rights abuses in the country. Time will tell if boycotts are are main storyline February. It’s curious the BBC reporter only discussed the potential boycott from the privacy of a gondola. Draw your own conclusions.
