Roundtop Mountain Resort, located near Harrisburg, PA is a moderate-sized ski resort, by mid-atlantic standards, that turns into a paintballing hub in the summer months.
The mountain has 11 unique paintball fields including a makeshift town, a shipping container field, and a fort.
The resort is now owned by Vail Resorts and, for some reason, has very little information about the operation, but it looks pretty cool from what I can find.
Here’s a video of a round at the shipping container course.
Most ski resorts lean into mountain biking, hiking, or other traditional summer sports, but it’s kind of neat to see a resort try something different.
Paintball feels like one of those sports that will never truly hit the mainstream, but can still be enjoyable to the masses.
It’s probably not an easy thing to get going at just any random ski area, but I wonder if other ski resorts could replicate it?
Imagine shooting your buddies with paintballs under the glorious mountains at the base of a resort like Snowbird, Mammoth, or Crystal?
That sounds like fun to me!
