Planning Proposal For $300M Indoor Ski Resort in Sydney, Australia Endorsed By City Council

“Last night, at their monthly meeting, Penrith City Council made a massive statement that they’re serious about bringing jobs, investment and tourism to Penrith and genuinely making it the adventure capital of Australia by endorsing our planning proposal. Snow skiing all year round in Western Sydney? Absolutely!”

You probably don’t connect Sydney with skiing, but that might change soon. Australian news outlets are reporting that a $300 million indoor ski resort is one step closer to being built in Sydney’s far west side. Dubbed Winter Sports World, the resort will feature an advanced slope, a beginner learning area, 120 luxury hotel rooms, restaurants, an ice skating rink, ice and rock climbing areas, and a snow play area. Australian Olympic officials also hope that the ski facility can be used by Olympians to train during the offseason.
