Good morning.

Today’s date is May 20th, 2021 and I’m about to the stir the pot of online debate amongst skiers and snowboarders!

US News and World Report released the 21 ‘Best Mountain Towns to Visit’ and we can’t let this slide by without a little debate, right?

Here’s the list in full:

21. Bryson City, NC
20. Burlington, VT
19. Big Bear Lake, CA
18. Sun Valley, ID
17. Hood River, OR
16. Helen, GA
15. Stowe, VT
14. Homer, AK
13. Taos, NM
12. Estes Park, CO
11. Big Sky, MT
10. Mammoth Lakes, CA
9. Juneau, AK
8. Hot Springs, AR
7. Aspen, CO
6. Park City, UT
5. Jackson Hole, WY
4. Breckenridge, CO
3. Telluride, CO
2. Bar Harbor, ME
1. Gatlinburg, TN

Gatlinburg, TN as number one? Come on man. No disrespect to Gatlinburg, but how can it possibly top Telluride, Breck, Jackson, and Park City?

I guess this list isn’t ‘The Best Mountain Towns To Ski At’, but that’s how I would have done it 😆

Notable exceptions include Crested Butte, Vail, Flagstaff, and all of Lake Tahoe. Also… is Bar Harbor really a ‘mountain town’? I know it’s near Acadia National Park, but mountain town seems like a little bit of a stretch.

You gotta have some downhill skiing if you want to be called a mountain town in my book…

What do you think about this controversial list?
