You know those memes about people who can’t start their day without a cup of coffee? They usually go something like,

“Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my cup of coffee.”

Yeah, those cliché captioned photos that spread like wildfire across Aunts and Uncles Facebook pages.

Well, I’ve always thought about skiing in that sense,

“Don’t ask me if I’m happy in the months of May-October, because I’m not.”

Now you might think that’s crazy, and I’ll admit that I’m being a bit dramatic, but I really am happier when there’s snow on the ground.

Why does something that I love so much bring such sadness in its absence? Shouldn’t writing about skiing for a living, and skiing 5 months out of the year satisfy my desires?

You might think that I have the answers to those questions, and that’s why I’m writing this blog, but I genuinely have no clue.

There’s just something so profound about sliding on snow that I can’t let it escape my daily thoughts. I might be in the minority here as a crazy ski-blogger, but I have never experienced anything as great as skiing.

Ever since I was a young grom living for weekend ski trips in the Poconos, and vacations to Vermont I’ve been teased about my love of skiing.

My friends would repeatedly say,

“Matt, we know you like skiing.” or “Matt, you already told us that you’re excited about going next week to Smugglers’ Ravine or whatever the hell it’s called, can you shut up already?”

I used to be embarrassed for being obsessed with skiing so much. Why is it that I was so passionate about something while others didn’t care?

I still don’t have the answers to any of these questions, but I feel like writing them out here makes them feel a little more real and might connect me with some of you in our community here at Unofficial Networks.

Do you fall into my bucket as a ski-crazed lunatic who can’t get enough skiing no matter what you do?

Shoot me an email and let’s chat! I’d love to connect with more of you and your passion for skiing.

Thanks for reading my brain dump of dumb thoughts and I hope to hear from you soon. Happy shredding.
