Aussie Snowboarding Legend Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin Died Spearfishing Off Queensland’s Gold Coast

Tragic news out of Australia where 32-year-old snowboarding champion Alex “Chumpy: Pullin died while spearfishing along an artificial reef off Palm Beach on the Gold Coast last week. It is believed Pullin suffered a ‘shallow-water blackout’ after trying to hold his breath for too long.  An investigation into his death is underway, with a report to be prepared for the coroner. Alex Pullin competed at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics and was a two-time snowboard cross world champion. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.
