It was announced recently that Forrest Fenn’s Treasure had been found by a man from “back east”. The buried treasure chest worth around $2 million had been hidden by New Mexico art dealer Forrest Fenn over ten years ago.

The subsequent treasure hunt captured the imagination of countless people and tragically led to the death of four people.

THE TREASURE HAS BEEN FOUND

It was under a canopy of stars in the lush, forested vegetation of the Rocky Mountains, and had not moved from the spot where I hid it more than 10 years ago. I do not know the person who found it, but the poem in my book led him to the precise spot.

I congratulate the thousands of people who participated in the search and hope they will continue to be drawn by the promise of other discoveries.

So the search is over. Look for more information and photos in the coming days.

Now a real estate attorney from Chicago, Barbara Andersen, has filed an injunction in federal District Court alleging she solved the puzzle first. In the filing, Andersen claims she was anonymously ‘hacked’ by the person who received the treasure. Andersen will be representing herself and is seeking to have the chest be handed over to her.

“He stole my solve. He followed and cheated me to get the chest.”

Andersen has not provided any information on what clues were used to locate the treasure or the location of where it was hidden.
