“500 spots filled crazy fast. Online reservations are equal opportunity and for those of you who did not secure a reservation, we encourage you to try again over the next 8 days.”

Quick report from Mt. Bachelor which reopened over the weekend to season passholders only. They only allowed 500 people on the mountain through an online reservation system and required skiers and snowboarders to follow strict social distancing guidelines to promote a safe/fun environment. Looks like everything went smoothly and some lucky guests even got a bit of fresh snow:

“We are grateful to be in a position as one of the few resorts in the US to reopen downhill skiing for our passholder community. We appreciate your support and positivity. Offering limited operations and limited skier / rider capacity allows us to bring skiing back to our community while being responsible community members and adhering to state and local guidelines for safety and physical distancing for staff and guests.”

Mt. Bachelor politely asks to consider not skiing if you already have enjoyed the mountain to give an opportunity for other people to enjoy. Read the caption to this video from Monday:

“A classic Mt. Bachelor sleeper day unfolded with a little fresh making for some great turns off Summit. Passholders, keep going for those 6pm reservations! If you’ve already had some slashes these last few days please remember there are many that haven’t and maybe consider sitting one out.”
