Happy to report Angel Fire Ski Resort in New Mexico is stepping up and taking care of their international employees stranded in the US after their home countries closed their borders barring their return. About 30 of Angel Fire Ski Resort’s J-1 employees are from Costa Rica and Peru, two countries that closed their borders in an effort to stop the virus from spreading. Angel Fire is letting them stay there for free, making sure they have groceries and entertainment:
“Everything is just different and we’re all trying to figure this out together. We’re sad they’re away from their families and can’t get home and I’m trying to treat them like my own.” –Angel Fire Ski Resort Seasonal Worker Coordinator Kaci Lesley
No telling when Peru and Costa Rica’s borders will reopen but these kids will have a hell of a story to tell when they get back.
