KSL is reporting that a new “billion-dollar” ski resort is coming to Utah on the Jordanelle Reservoir near Deer Valley.

Mayflower Mountain Resort will include a convention center and a five-star hotel. A surrounding village with shopping and normal ski amenities are planned.

Specifics on the ski terrain are still to be determined, but the plan is to have lifts spinning for Winter 2021. Five lifts are currently planned. Founder of the project, Gary Barnett, even discussed the idea of linking the resort with Deer Valley; similar to the relationship Alta and Snowbird have in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Barnett also discussed the possibility of Mayflower Mountain Resort being used to attract the Winter Olympics back to Utah.

Proposed New Ski Runs

This all seems pretty promising for the SLC and Park City ski scene. New terrain can’t be a bad thing, right? I wonder if this could lead Deer Valley to allow snowboarders in the near future? Nah… probably not.
